I am in need of 2 exhaust reinforcement plates for my '65 "K" convertible.
The whole floor is gone and the plates with it.
Are these included with new floors? are they reproduced separately??
book shows them as pn 58226.

A skilled body man would have no problem fabricating these. Just a piece of sheet metal cut to shape with rolled edges.
OK, Great!! What would one use for the "bolts" on them?
Most of the good Mustang parts vendors have the "muffler hanger retainer" that goes through the floor pan. Usually about 7 or 8 dollars each.
I found these for $12 for the pair.

only thing is it says 'not exactly as original'
but once they're installed, you dont see them anyway.
The "bolts", which is really 2 flat head carriage bolts welded to a small metal plate, are available in reproduction. They are not exact though, but will work. They just pass through existing holes through the reinforcement plates and unibody. Held in with a screw in the middle of the plate.
YOU CAN EMAIL ME AND I WILL SEND YOU 2 NICE EXTERIOR PICS FROM UNDERSIDE OF FLOORPAN AND TOP SIDE IF THAT HELPS FROM CAR I'M RESTORING K.WURSTER@INSIGHTBB.COM
I recently saw a pair of the "aftermarket" ones and they are unbelievably crude. Two hex head bolts poorly welded to a plate. I know you can't see this when installed, but I couldn't put these on a car I owned. I understand Drake sells the same ones.
My new VA Classic Mustang catalog has them and at least the pictures of these look like the original part. Page 104, FYI. $7.95 a pair.
Yes, seen repro's with a different size bolt, like a 5/16" instead of 3/8".
I have a pair of the reinforcement panels all removed from an old floor , glass beaded and ready to install with the 2 brackets, screws and the 4 nut , let me know if interested thanks Otto
