Don't know if the newer type is called soft locker
but the name makes sense as it's a much softer
engagement than the old type. I have the old type (original)
in my 65 Shelby and it's a lot of noise and you can
really feel when it hooks up while the newer type I have in my
67 Shelby is softer and produces very little noise.
The old type is sexier while the newer type is more drivable.
