Help with my rim size

  • I know this is a hipo spot...but I have a question for my 65 2+2..decided to put it back on the road..having problems figuring out what going to work on my car as far as rim and tire goes..

I have some 600lbs rated front springs that lowered it from stock height and the rear leafs are a reverse eye set up that also lowers the car..I used to run 14 inch torque thrust D's with some dunlop gt qualifers that were a 245 50 R14

but I cant find anyone selling those tire sizes anymore online...I would like to stay with the 14 inch rim and a 245 tire as its the widest I can go without rubbing..I used to run 265s in the back and they were always getting shreded with every bump in the road..anyhow not sure how a 15 inch rim would sit and the appropriate tire for it...any ideas or help would be appreciated..

  • Ok...found some BF goodwrench radial TA's that are a 245 60 14...so this should still be ok for me..I think and hope..now what is the correct size rim info ..All I think I know is that i need a 14x7 rim..but what is the backspacing and bolt pattern..does that make sense>?

  • If you do not have the 14" rims and are getting everything new why not upgrade to 15"? Agree with ZRAY I to have not seen anything larger that a 225-60 on the front of a 65/66. I have 15x7 TTD's with a 3 3/4" BS on my coupe with 215-65-15's all around and these work well for me and fill the wheel wells nicely. You may have to roll the fender lips with a lowered car if not already done.

  • I have a set of styled steel 15" wheels, with 225 or 205X15 Michelin I think, will check tonight, but they are forsale. The car buyer wanted the original 14 X 5 styled steel wheels, so these are extra. Any interest? Will verify the size tonight and post here. They are like new, a few hundred miles from new.
