• Here is a 65 K code fastback listed on BAT by seller "Einsteinbella" with a starting bid of $10,000.00:

This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback was sold new by Gateway Motor Company of Livingston, Montana, and it was ordered in Tropical Turquoise with a Parchment interior, a K-code 289ci V8, and a four-speed manual linked to a 3.50 rear end. According to the previous owner a remanufactured block was installed at some point, and it had been disassembled and repainted green before the car was restored in the 1990s. The restoration was completed around 2000, and the car was owned by that previous owner, a Ford employee, for ~35 years before it was acquired by its current owner in 2002. This Mustang is now offered with an owner’s manual, a binder of documentation, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.

The bodywork was factory-finished in Tropical Turquoise and had been painted green and partially disassembled when it was acquired by the previous owner. A multi-year restoration saw rust repairs, a repaint in the factory shade, and replacement chrome bumpers and trim.

The 14″ styled-steel wheels are mounted with 205/70 Goodyear Eagle GT II white-letter tires. A full-size spare is stored in the trunk. The four-wheel drum brakes were recently serviced according to the seller, who also notes a set of redline tires are included.

The front bucket seats and rear bench have been reupholstered, and the headliner was replaced. The replacement black loop carpets are protected by Mustang-branded rubber mats, and a push-button AM radio is mounted in the dashboard.

A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles

A replacement block was installed at some point for the 289ci K-code V8 according to the previous owner, who had the motor rebuilt. The seller tells us the process involved machining the crankshaft, replacing the pistons, head work, and a rebuild of the carburetor. The alternator, water pump, fuel pump and lines, radiator, and motor mounts were also replaced, and an aftermarket battery tray has been installed.

The engine block stamping is shown above and does not match the car’s VIN. The date stamp is displayed in the gallery.

The toploader four-speed manual transmission was also rebuilt by the previous owner and the clutch assembly was replaced. The assembly identification tag for the 9″ rear end stamped WCZ-H is displayed in the gallery along with additional identification stamps.

Handwritten notes from the previous owner are included along with a binder of records and a recent inspection report, which notes that there is no code stamped on the transmission.

The Minnesota title is listed as a duplicate.

  • Nice looking car dont see that color of blue to often ,one thing i noticed was the door data plate date code of 5 K which is the month of October 5th day and the seller paperwork shown states it as an October 1965 built car, should it be stated a 5 ,10, 1964 built car .
