Thank you for posting this. I tried really hard to find this on Craigslist but I was unable to come up with it. Could you possibly please post a link?

Found it there. A few more pics too.
Thank you for posting this link. It is a nice housing but unfortunately not an original. It is a made up housing using 8" axle tubes.
The distributor is an October 1963 second week. It looks good but it is more for a Fairlane or Cobra.

ok...just trying to help..👍

I was watching that on craigs list and thought the price was a little light for an original housing. im thinking the seller is a member on saac or another site.

I disagree, if that was an original housing it would be worth a lot more than what hes asking.

I believe that you misunderstood what Chuck was saying with his post, which I attached above. He stated that the price was light, meaning a low price. Possibly you misread that line as meaning high in price.

Its pretty basic in that light means less money and heavy means more money.

I stand corrected.
I guess i just read it too fast

Hi Fred,
Out of curiosity and my future knowledge, how specifically do the 8" axle tubes differ from the 65/66 HiPo 9" axle tubes. What was it in the craigslist picture of the axle housing that tipped you off?

Hi Fred,

The 8" axle tubes are slightly smaller in diameter where they are welded to the center section compared to the 9" tubes. The proper 9" tubes appear as the same size in pictures, or in person, where they are welded together. The 8" tubes have a visual step down in size where they are welded to the center section. Depending on the paint thickness or surface rust, the 9" tube diameter is 3.010 and the 8" tube diameter is 2.820. A very subtle difference but once you have seen that, it is impossible to unsee!

Ahh, ok I see it now. Now I know for future reference! Much appreciated!
Thanks Fred
