    I have up for auction, an N.O.S dual point breaker plate assembly for the fomoco distributor. This is a great restoration piece that I have had for over 20 years. The points are original Ford pieces, as is the condenser. This is an excellent Ford performance breaker plate suitable for any restoration project. Thanks for looking

    The correct distributor will NOT have a provision for a vacuum advance unit. I have seen where people have modified the casting to eliminate the attaching points for the vacuum advance unit and then filled in the hole for the arm that connects to the points plate. Then they added the dual point setup to make it appear correct. Keep in mind that the dual point setup is not the only change frrom single point to dual point. The distributor cam is also different as it controls the total advance characteristics.

    What distributor do you actually have? Is it FoMoCo, Autolite or Motorcraft?

    The only distributor for our Kars that had the provision for a vacuum advance but never had one was the, last hurrah, Motorcraft Hipo distributor that Ford offered in the 80's. Ford ran out of dual point castings and that was a single point casting that had a special plate that Ford used to cover the mounting points for the vacuum advance and the hole for the arm. Ford did not stamp the C5OF 12127 E number or date code on the distributor but rather stamped that number and date code on a separate tag that was screwed on with that special cover. Maybe that cover plate is what you are seeking if you have one of those late production Motorcraft distributors?
