65 trunk details

  • Could someone with an original 65 FB please do me a favor and take a picture of the fastening details for the back seat and rear hatch from the vantage point of the trunk? There are some 3/16" rivets that hold in the fiberglass trim near that rear hatch opening and the Osborn books say they should be 3/16 x .450 steel with steel shanks, but steel seems like it would be too much for the fiberglass to handle without cracking. Thanks.

  • Not sure what you need to see, but I took some photos of the rivets and also measured them. First the dimensions:

    Head diameter = 0.4"

    Total installed length = 0.37"

    Protrusion into trunk = 0.19"

Diameter of small end = squashed unevenly

I only had time for a quick look, so I'm not sure if they are steel or not. Please ignore the dirty, unrestored look...
