Crane Fireball Heads

  • Can someone tell me if these heads had any marks showing they were re-worked by Crane? If so, and you have a picture of the markings I would greatly appreciate it. Any help greatly appreciated.

Duncan, all I know is they were 289 HIPO heads apparently purchased from Ford by Crane Cams. They took the heads and did a port and polish job on them and installed over sized valves.

This is a link to a set that sold on ebay with pictures.

    Thanks for your help, Gary

  • Gary,

I have seen two sets of those heads and if I recall correctly Crane stamped their logo on one end. The round exhaust ports were common to both sets. I don't recall about the valve sizes, but they were ported and were supposed to have matched combustion chamber volumes. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks Dave. I contacted Crane Cams in Daytona Beach, Fl and was told they did not put any ID mark on the heads. If anyone has a set of these heads and can add some info to this I would appreciate it.
