SPEEDO & ODOMETER BACKWARDS

WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE SPEEDO AND ODOMETER TO TURN BACKWARDS WHILE DRIVING IN A 66 MUSTANG 289 WITH A 4 SPEED TOP LOADER ,WHAT IS THE FIX FOR THIS.

Chuck, you might want to call me on this one. Did you always have this problem or did you change the trans? If you have a correct Mustang trans, you may have a speedo drive gear on the output shaft for a 64/65 Falcon, 64/65 Fairlane or full size Ford. The speedo cable on those transmissions comes out on the drivers side and the helix on the speedo gear is reversed as compared to a Mustang. I have all of the gears to fix this if you need them.
