Holly Carb Jet Size???

  • Anyone out there use/used a Holly 600 (with metering plate in the secondaries) on your HiPo? If so what was the Primary Jet Size? I started out with #64 and now at #70.... the spark plugs have not changed color and are still as white and clean as if they just dropped out of the box.<img src=images/icon_smile_8ball.gif border=0 align=middle> Elevation out here is 4000'. I'm starting to think vacuum leak.

  • I am running Holly 715 cfm and has #68 jets and runs fine with them.

70 are to rich, Take a can of carb cleaner and spray around base of carb and intake if the rpm go up then you have a leak.

  • All engine internals and intake are stock "K". It has Tri Y's and Two Chamber Flowmasters. I had a C40FAL Autolite on it that took to running way too rich; the secondary diaphragm case has a broken/missing screw mount which causes a major vacuum leak, hopefully Pony Carbs will be able to repair it.

The Holly is a 600CFM, 0-1850S, 4160. I wonder if this "Newer" Carb has some type of lean running smog specs built into the primary metering block such as is built into the Street Avenger Holly???
