67 Convertible top

  • I am hoping that our friend earlyk will see this and chime in: He knows how to refinish the convertible frames very well and very correctly, I might add.

The frames were originally Electro-coated as powder coating wasn't invented yet-he has the facilities to do electro coating at his shop, and he most likely will be able to help with info on the bushings too.

  • That bushing kit is only for the power cylinder where it attaches to the top. I have a lot of NOS C5ZZ 7650512 A ones as Ford serviced them for quite a while. The tough bushings are the ones where the top folds and they are different.

  • Thanks for assistance guy's. I have emailed earlyk and a few other specialist suppliers. One supplier (Convertible top specialist in Florida)has side rail rebuild kits with bronze bushes for most other makes of cars, but no mention of mustangs. I will wait to hear from them.

I have also spoken to an engineer who is happy to work with me to reproduce the bushes in nylon. They would be CNC milled in the correct look white nylon (not cheap). If this was the case I will have sets made.

    Thanks again
