'65 5F14 intake, after change L-8??

  • I may need a new intake manifold for my Kar, it turns out that my machine shop really screwed up mine by somehow cutting it on an angle around the t-stat opening to try & true it up.

MINE is a C60E-9425-B with the date of 5F14 which I take as MAY 14, 1965--is this right??-its the EARLY '66 manifold that, acording to Bob's book was introduced onto engines sometime in LATE 1965-I know this particular manifold IS the ORIGINAL from my engine as it still had the CORRECT engine tag on it...

Anyway...how much leeway do I have in the date code in finding a replacement manifold?? definatly can't be AFTER my July 27th 1965 build date I know, but how much earlier or later can I go to get a correct replacement unit?? Thanks! (anyone got one I can use that IS GOOD???

  • 2 of them on e-bay right now, I think both would fall into a "correct" date code for your engine, although they are both C5OE's, worth a look............

  • 5F14 is June 14, 1965; E is May, F is June.

The 65/66 model year changeover for these manifolds occurred during this May - June 65 period. That is why a C6 manifold on a 1965 model year car confuses a lot of people.

I studied Bob Mannel's Ford 289 bible to determine what was correct for my own car, which was built during the third week of June 1965.

I have a collection of C6 intake manifolds for this period that are available for sale.

The three that I have are: 5E15, 5F7, and 5G27; all in nice shape.

I also have an original May 65 Hipo fan for sale if interested.

E-mail me via the site if you are interested.
