Any one can help verify the differance between the OEM Factory and NOS Hipo Service C30Z 6250 C camshafts.
The cam I have was sealed in Ford part labeled tube with C30Z 6250 C
Ford logo and service parts printed all over on tube.
The cam has no stamped markings other than an orange paint mark/band on the front of the cam by the dist gear and first lobe, the other is a pink paint mark on the back in front of rear journal and last lobe. There is a CWC in a rectangular casting box and some other unreadable in another similar box.
The cam looks like an aftermarket manufatured syle unit.
The cam was measured and comes out to hipo Ford factory book specs on lift and duration etc.The clocking as Ford states or taper on the lobes are correct for solid tappets.
I have and seen OEM factory cams and they have the VE by the dist gear in front of cam and ford logo on and orange paint daubs, and in no way resemble the cam in the tube.
Having a hard time finding any reliable information on the matter.
Please post email or PM any detailed pictures or printed documents for verifyable referance you may have to help determine for sure it is a Bonafied Ford Factory sold camshaft would be really great. Possibly point me in the direction that I may possibly find the info.
Thank you. SSB

Well folks I have just reproduced a set mid pieces off my original set,After all the work etc.they look right but cant reproduce the welds to look proper as the originals do.Put them in a car and had some fun driving like a mad man and the plates started buckling up on torque side and buckled down on other side. Well so much for the good so called steel they produce today.
So oviousely the pieces are made out of a harder steel or hardend so they wont bend or buckle. So add the hardening in,or more expensive steel.
My opinion its not worth the time and effort and dont see where it would save any time or money than the proper originals would.

Probably a stupid question but I figured the wise people here would know this.
On an early C40E hipo 289 5 bolt block it has a 3M3 for a date code. Has 3M build date code on pad by head and on oil pan rail. Not same date but later in month.
Has correct main caps and C3 rear cap and dont appear to have been altered filed etc. line bored/honed.
No seqential numbers on side pads under heads like fairlanes have.
No serial number on oil pan rail. Block was tanked so no orange paint markings etc.
Most all the rest of the blocks and 6 bolts I have seen stop at L for Dec. date code. Was that year date codes that way? or a 1/2 year thing. Leap month !!! or???
Thank you SSB.
