Removing spacer from fan??

  • Would anyone know a way to remove the spacer from the HYPO fan?? mine has not been taken apart for almost 30 years, & I need to get the fan powder coated. Thanks!

  • If it hasn't been off in 30 years, it might be frozen on. Some gentle taps with a hammer, a little WD-40, and a nice strong grip with gloved hands should be able to pop it free.

  • Oh, and by the way, tap the sides of the spacer to free it up. If you hit the center pilot in an attempt to drive it through, you risk peening pilot over. And then it would be really stuck. Just take your time, and maybe a little twisting action might help too.

  • You might try tapping with a plastic hammer.

Another trick would be to use 2 bolts clamped down in a vice that will fit through 2 opposing holes in the spacer, but not go through the front fan side. This will allow you to rotate the fan off.
