• Guys and gals, forgive me for a non-K appeal, but pehaps someone out there can help me find an original 289 Cobra left rear splined axle hub, Anyone???? thanks.

  • Lynn Park, Drew Serb, or Bill Murray maybe if it must be an original.

I can find an e-mail address for Drew but the others would require asking around.

PS Several companies make some sort of replacement (mostly for the current cars) but what I have seen was considerably different than any original.

  • I have a repop that bent at the end of the spline, and therefore is unuseable. I don't know who made it, as of now. Lynn Park is not an option, he won't part with anything worth buying. I will try Drew. Thanks.

I know he makes pin drive hubs but he may also make spline drive as well if he is still in business.

  • It may be that the one that bent was a Brian Angliss/ Autokraft english axle made from mild steel. Petrus makes his from heat treated 4340 steel. Thanks for the help.

  • So far I have not personally seen, heard of, or handled any commercial "replacement" suspension parts for original leaf spring Cobras that were dimensionally just like an original, even from AC Cars in the 1990s. Buyer beware. Make sure you have a money back guarantee. Lots of people have had the unpleasant surprise that to use replacement part A they must also replace or modify original to the car mating part B, and maybe parts C, D, etc. until the whole suspension is replaced or modified. Our group has run into holes drilled in the wrong place, holes drilled at odd angles, different sizes, different threads, poor heat treating, parts too big, too thick, too thin, too rough, brake rotors with non-stock “hat” offsets, and threads poorly cut (in my case 0.750 maximum X 16 was actually 0.756 X 15½ and absolutely would not work).

I have run across several cars where the owner needed one part and ended up replacing the complete suspension and brakes on one end of the car or another.

I did find one source for 99% correct brake rotors for coil spring cars. Most differences could not easily be seen mounted and in use but they were almost a quarter inch larger in diameter; too much for some cars without correcting.

Remember the 99.99% rule of marketing. 99.99% of all private sector goods and services have only one true purpose and that is to separate customers from their money.

  • Hey Dan, any chance of getting any of your Club's Original 289 Cobras for the HiPo Reunion we're planning for next June in Carlisle, PA? I'm not interested in any Clones. Possibly you can notify some other Cobra Clubs and let them know what we are trying to do. Thanks.

  • Marv,

If you have specific dates I will pass the information to our group of long time owner / enthusiasts. There a group on the east cost that love to get together for a road trip in original cars.
