is there some way one could get hold of
s.o. who has a register'd K car
if you found say an engine or tranny
with their VIN stamped into it?
is there a protocol for this?

Dave, I've seen this happen before.....it usually is someone that comes up with a block or complete engine, posts the VIN and in the cases I've seen the car IS NOT in the registry and the person isn't involved on our site........I'm thinking that the parts involved have been removed from a destroyed K or may be even a Shelby for use in something else......
Kind of on a related note I have spoken with a Corvette interior specialist about the Mustang Convertible rear window stamping he was surprised to hear that the Mustang community was geting so anal about its cars and said the Corvette crowd had been like that for years.....
not a member of any corvette club
nor on any vette forums etc.
just have had mine for ~ 40 yrs
here is a pic of it at a corvette show
in Okoboji a few weeks ago
mine is the first red one (56) on the left
from the bottom of the photograph
at the top of the pic is a '78
which will be featured next year
and is a friend's of mine
oh man....i hijacked my own thread
i have a 4 spd toploader vin 186649

I am looking for engine parts for my K-code. The VIN is 5F07K704598.
Hey Iowa, did you ever get to reunite the car and engine ?
