My club just finished hosting our first MCA show this past weekend at the Sands Point Preserve on Long Island. Aside from a few small hiccups the weekend was a great success.I did not get to walk around much as I was working the whole time but luckily I was in the Concours area. Here is a quick list off the top of my head of a few of the cars I was stuck with for 3 days.
5 HiPo Kars (at least 4 more in the show on another field )
2 Boss 429
3 Boss 302 (a few more elsewhere)
1 Boss 351
12 Shelbys (at least another 8 in other fields)
1 Cobra Jet D rag car (Original owner)
1 Factory Mach 1 Twister Special Drag car
1 65 Motion Built Drag Kar
Sprinkled in with A Ford family car,some mach1s,Pace cars,etc....
Wish I got to walk around a little to see what else was there but I was very happy to meet some really nice folks where I was including a few from this forum....
8 K Kars in one place amazing....I was so overwhelmed I forgot to take many pictures so I am missing some great cars but here is a few.

Sounds great. How is the rest of the project going ?
mike
Even though my harness was in good shape the first item I bought after acquiring my kar was a new wiring harness.I have first hand knowledge of what could go wrong and did not want that repeated.
My only downside is that my project has stalled, so by the time I put it in it may not be new anymore
mike
Sorry for you loss Scott.I hope nobody was injured.

I like what he did to the back of the seats. Is that custom ?
Mike
By the time my kar is back together, I will be so old my hearing will be gone anyway.
Just a little jealous as another summer approaches and the k still sits.

The first automatic in a Hipo Fairlane was 1964. A lot of Fairlanes were produced in Kansas City which uses a K for the assembly plant code. I have seen a number of times where Fairlane people advertised their cars as K cars not realizing that the second digit of the VIN is the assembly plant and not the engine code.

Thanks for the info Fred, You just settled a 30 yr dispute I have been having with my buddy about another freinds car in H.S.
Winning... lol

Glad to see you made it over here Snakebite.
Lots of knowledgeable people here to help you piece that rare Kar back together.
mike
Well at least it is not 5 million.

Welcome Malcolm,
I to like you have a Black on Black K which I probably paid too much for but it was what I was looking for(for quit a long time) and it was time to pull the trigger. We also agree on the fact that " digging up parts and the whole restoration process " are the best part.If it was all about making money I would need to find another hobby.Going to swap meets, club meetings, forums like this, and even weekends working on our cars with a few buddies and a couple of beers make it possible for me to function in this world the rest of the time.
Good luck and enjoy
mike
Welcome Scott
Glad you are back.
Like you I too believe these cars are meant to be driven. But that being said I think you made the right move with 100002 it went to the right guy.It was to important of a car.
mike
Welcome Bill, look forward to hear your perspective.
My Kar was also built in Dearborn was wondering if you remember it...LOL

I was having breakfast this weekend at the local joint near my weekend house and they were asking how my restoration was coming along. All of a sudden this local I know says he's got a 64 Fairlane K Code he wants to sell me for $1500. It doesn't have the original motor and someone apparently cut a sunroof into it. It also has been made into a Thunderbolt clone and I don't know what else was done or the quality of the parts. I have to go and see it. I wonder what it may be worth and if its worth the effort ?

Here is one now on Ebay.If I wasn't already up to my neck in my Kar a 64 fairlane like this would be on my short list.

Good luck on the sale Charles.
I am a bit disappointed though, was looking forward to your restoration blog on this one(it being a fastback).

Hey Greg,
Tell me about the big E swap. I have been there in the summer(and that was a while back) but never heard of a winter swap. Is it worth the trip...?
