    This is just a question to see if anyone else has found this.

    I was removing a center section from a slightly pited horn ring to replace a craked one on a near perfect one,here is what I found.Under the black center peice with the three bars and pony and the ring with FORD-MUSTANG was FALCON-SPRINT with the two crossed flags.I am not sure but I think this ring came off of a 65 fastback I restored about fifteen years ago,the build date on the car was September 14 1964,the horn ring has a c3 engineering number,thought this was pretty neat,anybody else ever find this?

    I can not say what Henrys wife was saying or thinking but here is the responce I got from a dear old friend,not in these exact words,but you will get the picture;

    You spend more time 'tinkering' in the 'darn' garage than you do in bed<img src=images/icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>

    She is now my ex<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

    Hi Les,just went out and looked at mine,here is what I found.

    The rear valance is date coded right in the center wear it screws to the tailight panel.

    Im sure the front is date coded also,but mine must have been replaced at one time or two, so cant give a location to look,hope this helps.

    If you and 8-10 others actually decide to bring their Kars, we could have a 289 High Performance Mustang Class on the showfield!

    WOW Gene,thanks for the challange,actually not that far away from going to body shop.I am working on engine bay right now getting ready to put the motor back in,hopefully body shop by fall,put together over winter,Carlisle in June.

    Sounds like a good plan,hope it comes together.<img src=images/icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

    does anyone know if a " standard H-pipe" fits a hipo- exhaust manifold equipped 289 Mustang?

    Nope. I have an NOS h-pipe that had surface rust that has been bead blasted, painted, and installed for a short period of time, got dinged for it being painted (rusty the judge said, lol) so replaced it with a Motive aluminized pipe for show. If you are buying a repro make sure it is made by Motive, others don't fit. The Repro pipe I got from NPD didn't fit (couldn't verify if it was a Motive) but I KNOW K.A.R. sells the correct Motive pipe. I'll let my slightly used NOS pipe (with Ford #s stamped in it and the correct stop) go for $100 if you are interested, otherwise I'd recommend the Motive pipe.

    GM E.O.S. is specifically used/formulated as an engine assembly lubricate & recommends it only be used for specific purpose. On the back of the bottle it says GM does not recommend the use of this product as an additive to engine oil.
