I have heard that the preliminary adjustment on these early 65/66 valves should be around 11 or 12 threads sticking out from the lock nut , can anyone say if Ford made a special wrench to tighten this lock nut down after you have found the best adjustment for your car , with the valve installed in the car ? Or dose the valve have to come out to lock it down, so it will not leak .

This should help you out. The end with the adjustment should not have any fluid in it to leak. If you do have a leak, it is leaking at the internal seals. I have a fair number of NOS valves and I can count the threads if you send me an email.

Fred , It's been a long while . Thank you so much for your input on the proportioning valve . My button top fuel pump that I purchased from you many years ago has never missed a beat , and neither has the 6 blade Hi-Po water pump . Right now I am finishing up a long restoration on my 57 Nomad , and God willing I will get in touch with you to purchase one of your valves . You are a main part of keeping the early Hi-Po's alive , thank you so much , Domenic
