With all of the transmissions and cases that I have in my inventory, my thoughts lean towards April 1967. The location of the C5AR 7003 D numbers near the top cover was more of a later 1966 and beyond location for the C5AR case. Beginning in the 1968 model year the case was a C8AR and those numbers were on the opposite side of the case near the top cover. Most of those 1965/1966 casting numbers are located near the shift shafts. My belief is that possibly this is an HEH-BX replacement transmission built in 1967. The actual 1967 transmission was a RUG-N.

Thx Fred. Do you have a pre April 22 1965 case? I can change, or should I leave as is?

I only have complete transmissions. I do have other transmissions for other applications that may have the date code that you need however, an April 1965 Kar would have an HEH-T and not an HEH-BX. Please refer to the post below this post for this information as to the errors on online toploader identification. Also, what is the date on your tail housing and which version do you have? Either a C4DR or a C4ZR as they are different for each application.

That tail housing is correct for an HEH-BX but not for the HEH-T that you really need to be correct as it uses the C4DR version. The tail housing is really the only physical difference between the two transmissions but it is very obvious once you see the two.
Where do you wish to go from here? Maybe a transmission trade of sorts as I can use another HEH-BX?

I am in California. Please send me an email as it is too time consuming to communicate on this forum. It has taken over a week to get this far. I just sent you an email.
