• I have two balancers that are both marked C5OE A. They both have the Ford logo. The one is what I usually see on HiPo’s and has a 5E date. The second one has degree marks all the way around the balancer. And I can’t find a date on it. Can anyone tell me what I have. Thanks7E05F94C-1947-41E5-AD28-3D7F2C4CAC41.jpg

  • Back in the day, Shelby offered a fully degreed balancer part number GFJD 6316 A with a list price of $28.65. There were aftermarket companies who offered the same thing for most any engine and manufacturer by remarking your old balancer.

  • Fred, Thank you for the reply. This balancer is on my 1965 Shelby GT 350. i took it off because I thought it was not correct. I'm thinking of selling my Shelby and I want to make sure everything is correct. I think I will put it back on. Rick

  • In my experience fully degreed balancers were used on R model mustangs. If your motor was ever balanced with the fully degreed balancer then I would leave this on. The date code 5E does sound right for a late 1965 shelby.

Keep in mind that the fully degreed balancer that he has, does NOT have a date code.

I do agree that if the engine was balanced with the fully degreed balancer, that it needs to be on this engine. Short of that, the 5E balancer can be match balanced to the fully degreed one is you want to eliminate the fully degreed one. This, of course, only applies if you have the history of engine work on this engine and know for certain that the fully degreed balancer was balanced with the engine..
