    Here is an Ebay auction for a used Hipo crankshaft by Ebay member "falconfutura1965" with a Buy-It-Now of $600.00:

    289 Hipo Crankshaft. Condition is "Used". Please! I don't have any other hipo parts for sale at this time.. This Crankshaft was removed from an early 65 5 bolt block that was deemed beyond reasonable repair. It was cleaned magnafluxed and machined to .010 mains and rods undersize. There are a few minor inclusions that would clean up at .020 but my machinist assured me it would be in more than fine . This is a legit hipo crank that still has the orange marking . See photos of engine before crank was removed. It's not beautiful because I refrained from bead blasting it in order to retain the original hipo paint markings.. This auction is for Crankshaft only but also Includes hatchet weight and timing gear...

    Here is an Ebay auction for a used Hipo crankshaft by Ebay member "bobmannel" with a starting bid of $500.00:

    This crankshaft came out of a 289 HiPo K-code 1963 Fairlane with 94,000 miles. The car was last registered in 1976, then sat in a field for 4 years, then another 4 years in a barn. Engine was disassembled in 1984, crankshaft photographed, then carefully stored. So, crankshaft is pretty much like it was when removed. As can be seen, the journals are oil stained from sitting for so long in the same place. The journals are actually in remarkably good condition. With a good cleaning and polishing, crankshaft likely could be run in standard size. But, it would clean up like new if journals turned 10 thousandths under. The critical distinguishing feature of the 289 HiPo crankshaft was the orange paint on the aft center counterweight, which is still clearly visible in spite of the oil staining. These crankshafts were made of high nodularity cast iron. To check nodularity, Ford polished the rear counterweight so that a microscope could be used to compare the spherical nodules against go/no go photos. Only 289 HiPo crankshafts in the early years had this polished counterweight. I also photographed all the markings/stampings, but they have little meaning. The 1M was used for the molds of all Ford small block V8 crankshafts at the time. I show all the main and connecting rod journals. What looks like rust are oil stains. In the last picture I show the oil seal surface, which looks like it has rust, but a gentle scraping (see arrows of the same place), shows it is just build up of oil residue. Under it, the machine lines on the oil seal surface are clearly visible. Rarely will you find a 289 HiPo crankshaft in as good a condition as this one.
