Just bought this very complete K engine from an old garage. Will be going into my Fastback if no one comes forward!

Is there a vin on the block, any details on condition 5 or 6 bolt, date codes ,location,do you have a price for it.

Chuck, The way that I read the OP message here is that he only has the engine. In that case the VIN posted must have come from the engine. If it is the approximate production date of the Kar was late September 1964 and would be a 6 bolt block. I certainly could be wrong on where the VIN came from but these are my thoughts.

65 Koupe early San Jose Phoenician Yellow 4 speed
66 GT Koupe Dearborn Blue 4 speed
66 KGT San Jose fastback pony interior Silver Frost 4 speed

    65 Ranchero 289 4 speed
    66 Corvette roadster 427/425 4 speed

You are correct. I have a K code fastback with a 351 Windsor in it right now. I just bought a bunch of parts from a garage south of Tucson, including that K engine. The engine is mostly complete and is vin stamped with 5R07K142861. I have not checked all of the date codes and am not sure if it’s 5 or 6 bolt block. I will check when I get home!

If you post the VIN for your fastback, it is possible that you may locate your original engine or pieces.

5R09K241895 I believe it’s in a registry already. I found it in a yard in Pinetop, Arizona. no motor or trans.

Water pump, fuel pump, air cleaner and fan are MIA. Timing cover is correct. I got two sets of correct exhaust manifolds with the deal as well as a CJ flex plate. the fuel pump and fan may be in the garage somewhere, the gentleman that passed away had a lot of high dollar cars and parts in this garage. He disassembled almost everything and never put it back together. The distributor in the engine now is not the correct one. But the right one was laying close by. Good thing I looked, not bad for $4500 I don’t think.

Yes, I would say that you made an excellent deal on that engine.
