Chuck, The way that I read the OP message here is that he only has the engine. In that case the VIN posted must have come from the engine. If it is the approximate production date of the Kar was late September 1964 and would be a 6 bolt block. I certainly could be wrong on where the VIN came from but these are my thoughts.

You are correct. I have a K code fastback with a 351 Windsor in it right now. I just bought a bunch of parts from a garage south of Tucson, including that K engine. The engine is mostly complete and is vin stamped with 5R07K142861. I have not checked all of the date codes and am not sure if it’s 5 or 6 bolt block. I will check when I get home!

5R09K241895 I believe it’s in a registry already. I found it in a yard in Pinetop, Arizona. no motor or trans.

That is quite a gem that you have there. What about the fuel pump, water pump and timing cover?
