Used C8ZE Heads

This is a pair of used 289 HI-PO heads. These were also the heads sent to Crane Cams to make the famous "CRANE FIREBALL" heads. This set in particular, never had the emission holes taped into the exhaust ports. Which gives these heads all sorts of possibilities as far as porting goes. This pair has all the standard HI-PO factory upgrades as well. Factory screw in studs. Cast valve spring cups. 20 and 21 on the corners of the heads. These heads are service replacements with casting C8ZE-B, dated 8-F-20. Very nice heads, look like they may have been milled on the block side at some point. Missing one rocker and stud. Will need to be rebuilt to use.

Ford 289 hipo K Code Cylinder Heads, Crane fireball! C8ZE-B. Condition is Used. Very rare set of Hipo heads ported by Crane in the 60s! Matching cast date of 9K23. Valve size is 1.94 IN/ 1.625 EX. They show some use and came from a 302 Mexican block engine I purchased many years ago and we're shelved! I believe it was built for drag racing and have never used these heads! This head has a fairly common issue and is noted by the seller of the small crack in the rocker stud boss. There are actually 3 of the cracks and I recommend a repair be done before using the head. It is not an easy repair as brazing will not work so it needs to be cast iron welded. I have had a few of these heads with this issue successfully repaired but it is not cheap. These cracks are generally caused by use of a non Ford rocker stud which has the wrong radius where the threads end at the base of the stud.
