Dual Point Distributer - Swapping Internal Components

  • Jason, There is nothing different between the FoMoCo and the Autolite other than the names on the points and condenser. What matters is what is wrong with your FoMoCo one. Does it have bad bushings? Other than that, swapping parts will not change anything. I have encountered where the distributor cam is loose on the shaft, which is rare, and that made the Kar run poorly. If you had to, and the bushings are not loose, you can swap the two main shaft assemblies.

  • Yes, my plan was to literally swap out everything including the cam and gears and the entire inner components from the Autolite one, so taking the original casing shell only and put everything in from the Autolite one...

Good to talk to you again on the Forum Fred...
