New guy with a question

  • Hello fellow motorheads.

New guy here with a question. Does anyone have a sound bite or audio clip of a hipo 289 at idle? I've searched the internet hi & lo without luck. Its too difficult to describe that sweet sound of the solid lifter cam to friends. Thanks,

  • welcome and am working on the sound bite, have you any pics of your car you can share with us? or description?<img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • Thanks,

As before, I appreciate anything you can come up with. I do have a photo of my car....not a Mustang mind you. Its a 63 Falcon Sprint 4 spd. Do I dare bring that up? I am in the middle of a "Ford could've done it this way" build up. The little Sprint will undergo a 260-etomy and be transplanted with a C3AE 289 built as a hipo. The T-10 will go and be replaced with a toploader....the 8 inch rear replaced with a 9 inch....and so on. Now, If I could just figure out how to post a picture....

  • Thanks,

I do appreciate the welcome. A little awkward going to a pony corral with a Falcon but hey, let's face it, the Mustang was perfected from an existing platform.....the Falcon. My Grandad, my Dad and I have all had 63 Falcon Sprints. I made the mistake of selling my first and am hanging onto this one. Sort of a wolf in sheep's clothing. Besides, I can't get a hold of a decent 65-66 Mustang fastback affordably. So, I work on the next best thing. I currently have a tripower set up (ready to go manifold ro air claner) and thanks to Marv, now have a C3 Hipo solid lifter cam. The engine is out getting tanked and jetted as are the heads. Slowly this engine will come together. Luckily the car is quite driveable right now with the little 260 and T-10 4 spd.

Again, thanks for the welcome and I look forward to any sound bites guys!
