This set SOLD for $300.00
DESCRIPTION:
Used original, unmolested Hi-po connecting rods for Ford 289, 271 hp engines. Part # C3OZ-6200-C and a casting # C3AE-D. These are a matched set of rods that came out of a 65 Mustang back in 1977. Rods have about 70K miles on them and are in excellent condition. They have not been worked on in any way. Completely original as the day they were installed at Ford, still marked with the factory yellow paint. Rod #5 looks as if it has been dipped or plated half way in copper (it is not rusted). This is the way it was when removed from engine. Do not know why it is like that. Sold as-is.
This set SOLD for $242.50
DESCRIPTION:
You are bidding on a MATCHED set of Ford Boss 302 Connecting Rods.(No Reserve!!!) These will also fit High Performance 289's.
These rods have the factory "Football Head" 3/8" rod bolts and the extra strengthening rib at the shoulder towards the front of the rod. The casting number of these rods are C3AE.
These rods were honed on the small end to make them "Full Floating" so you do need to use pistons that use snap/circle rings on both sides.
The shoulders of the rods, next to the rod bolts, have been blended to help strengthen and lower windage! All rods are numbered on bottom of rods.
These rods are a Matched set and are balanced within +/- 2 grams. The rods have also been Manufluxed (No cracks found) and shot peened for strength!

This is a good set of C3AE-D 289 HiPo rods with the factory 3/8" bolts. I picked this set up for backup on a recently completed engine overhaul, but I did not need to use any.
[Blocked Image: http://www.hipomustang.com/cgi-bin/cars/rods102503.jpg]
that could conceivably read: "I picked this set up as a backup for the set i already had, and after frankensteining the 8 best ones into my car, here are the rest"
Dan,
your experience with your white car seems to have left you a little pessimistic.![]()
![]()
just kidding! Billy
You might be on to something there, Billy. There are lots of eBay horror stories along with all the transactions which go through with no disappointments. Most of the time, we only hear about the bad auctions on the internet...
lol yeah.. you -might- say i'm a pessimist. watch out for the white car appearing on ebay in the future. it's also got a head that needs repair on one pushrod slot (grooved).
so all in all, you need to watch out. i bet the guy puts it right back up. ![]()
It seems that BOSS/HiPo rods are turning up frequently on eBay these days. This set SOLD for $255.00
DESCRIPTION:

DESCRIPTION:
Set of eight Ford factory HiPo rods used in 289 and 302 performance engines. Rods are cast number C3AE and are stronger than standard Ford rods and have larger rod bolts. Pistons are used not new. Winning bidder to pay actual shipping costs, money orders only. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THESE MAY BE BOSS 302 RODS AS THE 3/8" ROD BOLTS HAVE A FOOTBALL SHAPED HEAD, I'VE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT THESE RODS FIT BOTH 289 AND BOSS 302 FORD ENGINES AND THAT THE FOOTBALL SHAPED HEAD BOLT IS THE STRONGER BOLT AND ROD. I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY CONFUSION. THE CAST NUMBER IS AS STATED C3AE.

Here's an interesting set of rods with a BIN of $850.00.
DESCRIPTION:
C9ZX PART #. this is the only set I've ever seen before that was made for the trans-am racer. It is the complete set with the balancer that is also rare and hard to find. These rods are much beefier than the original BOSS 302 or 289 HiPo rods. They will work on the 289 HIPO, and were built for racing high rpm engines that won the trans-am race. Very rare parts to find, so if you are building a vintage racer this is the set-up you need.

This auction is for a set of used HiPo rods and pistons...
DESCRIPTION:
Up for auction is a very nice, original set of lightly used 289 high performance connecting rods (C3AE), and Ford pop-up high compression pistons. Pistons are the original units available through the Ford "Muscle Parts" program of the late Sixties. They can be used with stock HiPo heads for awesome compression, or with 351 Windsor C9OE or DOOE heads to regain stock compression. Still evident on the rods is the orange paint used at the factory to color code 289 high performance parts. The pistons are marked with FORD and C9OX on the inside of the skirt. They are STD size, not .030 over. One piston and rod are NOS. I also have one extra NOS RH piston to match that will be included. These units are very useable, but will need a standard reconditioning at the machine shop and new rings. These are sold "as is". Low reserve on these very hard to find pieces.

This set of used rods SOLD for $200.00.
DESCRIPTION:
I was told these are 302 BOSS rods, but I took them from my own 289 HiPo to replace with aftermarket rods many years ago (see pictures), I do know they are C3AE rods. A set of 8 with large HiPo or BOSS style rod bolts, they had stock bearings in them and none were spun.
