• G3 is July 3. The question is, what year? If July 3, 1967, then it could be an early introduction of a 1968 production casting. This was not unusual for end of production year changeovers. It happened with engine parts. You did not mention the extension housing date code, or if it appear that the tag and holding rivet appeared unmolested. Also, giving the tag numerical number might help put it in sequence if others have numbers with confirmed dates to compare.

  • Tag appears unmolested, rivet, etc. I haven't been able to check the housing numbers. I have yet to remove the Hurst mounting plate. The aluminum hex bolts are being very stubborn. I've tried heat, etc. with no results, their in there really good. I'm afraid of stripping the hex.
