Disc Brake/Clutch Pedal Pads

  • A question for y'all.

When did Ford change the disc brake and

clutch pedal pads to accommodate the trim rings.

I know it must have been before the pony interior

was introduced. NPD's catalog says (disc brake)

3/8/65 but did that happen on all cars whether having the

    pony interior/trim rings or not.

The reason I ask is to find out which pads my

early May 65 Shelby (#5S275) shall have, with or without

the edge for trim rings. Of course, the car didn't have

trim rings as it had standard interior.

    Thanks,

    /Bo

  • This is one of those things that would be tough to nail down to a specific point in production. For San Jose, all I can tell you is that in January/February of '65, the non-indented pedal pads were still being used. For Dearborn, I have seen non-indented on a late May '65 car(disc brake pedal pad).

  • I just checked some photos of an unrestored - really untouched is a better term - 65 with a scheduled build date of June 18 (18T). It has the little edge indentation for the deluxe trim on the disc brake pad but the car had only a standard interior. so it would appear that by late June they were using some, if not all of the later design disc brake pedal pads. This disc brake pad was on an automatic transmission car so just use this as informational material. Just FYI
