Induction System

  • As far as I know, the classic Weber set up for the SBF has been reproduced. A friend has a set on his modified 1964 Fairlane Sports Coupe. The originals still exist, but will cost considerably more than a reproduction. It will probably take some serious searching to find an original set for sale...

  • The going rate for genuine 1960s systems or parts thereof are very high. Sometime in the mid 1970s copies of the intakes and then current production carburetors hit the market and are still being offered by more than one vendor. The vast majority of carburetors for sale are marked 48 IDA4. Shelby, Ford, and Moon (for a while in 1965-66 at least) sold 48 IDA (very early) and 48 IDA1 units for 289 "COBRA" systems. Shelby's 1966 parts books claims they were the sole distributor for 48 IDA1 models. Recreating the linkage designs (more than one) Shelby and Ford used is almost as expensive as the carburetors as new old stock correct AN hardware and bearings for old aircraft make old car parts look like give aways.
