Autolite alternator

  • I have rebuilt my alternator with a kit from AMK

Now I have a terrible buzz on the radio that was not there before.

When I took rhe rear cover off the insulating washers and built in radio suppressor fell out on the bench.

By a process of elimination I thought I figured out how it went but wanted to see if anyone had any adeas.

With the stator / rectifier facing up I have one insulator on the post marked stator and have fitted the supressor across the open ends between the Batt post and its opposite number.

Then fitted an insulator to the Batt post and assembled.

The mustang monthly article does not show the final assembly before before the cover goes on.

Now wished I had left it alone

PS If anyone has a spare external alternator suppressor with the black lead I am looking for one.

    Thanks

    Thanks

  • This is a big thanks to Jack at Dead nuts on.

I asked him if he had an exterior alternator suppressor and P clip and he had a super nice replated one, and was willing to take the time and trouble to ship an inexpensive part across the pond to me.

It has cured the buzz and I am one happy bunny.
