holley 715 issues

  • hi all, i have a 715 on my 289. sometimes while slow down to a complete stop, the enigine dies. but it starts right up after this happens? to rich? to lean? ?? its a 4speed car.

    thanks

  • Does this happen more often when you slow down quickly? If that's the case check the front float level. If it's too low all the fuel in the front primary bowl may slosh to the front under hard braking and momentarily fuel starve the engine.

  • Make sure that carb vents tubes are not blocked when you put the air cleaner lid on. Take your air cleaner lid off and leave air filter on carb bend down and look over top of air cleaner and make sure the tubes are below the top of air cleaner.

Check your fuel inricment adjustment screws are set right. Turn screw all the way in and back it out about 1 1/2 turns with air clear lid on.
