I was planning to drive my K to a local show this weekend. After starting the engine, gas streamed out my fuel pump. This was a NAPA M4009 replacement installed about 18 months ago, with only a one year warranty. I've been hoping to find a 3939S
, but aren't we all. I have a 3911S button top (Oct 64)that needs a rebuild, but could substitute for the 3939S.
I was looking at Bob Mannel's small block book photos of the early screw-type fuel pumps stamped 3734S. Since my car is an early '65 (Aug 5, 1964), could this early, less desirable and easier-to-rebuild pump be correct for my car?
So I suppose I'll have to buy another generic pump and wait it out.
