HI EVERYONE; MY NAME IS CRAIG. I HAVE A STORY FOR ANYONE WHO KNOWS ABOUT C6FE ENGINES. BACK IN 1985 I BOUGHT THIS 1923 T BUCKET. IT WAS BUILT BY GRATIOT AUTO SUPPLY IN ROSEVILLE MICHIGAN. IN THE 60'S. IT WAS BUILT FOR SHOW. NOT VERY SAFE. I WOULD DRIVE IT IN THE SUB. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT IN ABOUT 10 YEARS. THE AUTO SUPPLIER PUT A FORD 289 C6FE ENGINE IT. I TOOK THE STARTER OFF TO CHECK THE NUMBER. IT IS A C6FE. IT HAS A 750 HOLLY AND SIDE PIPES. IT RUNS GREAT, THE LAST TIME I STARTED IT. AS FAR AS I KNOW THE MOTOR HAS NEVER BEEN TOUCHED.IF SOMEONE WANTS TO BUY THE ENGINE, ITS NOT DOING ME ANY GOOD.I WAS TOLD THIS IS A HARD TO FIND. THANKS CSM

Craig or anyone else,
Please excuse my ignorance, what is a C6FE engine? Just a special block casting? Help, I'm in the dark and I want to see the light!<img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>
Okay, after doing some reading, is it a GT40 race block with a higher nickel content? I'm still curious!<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I thought all FE's were big blocks, where did I go wrong?

I thought that the 289 used in GT40 had O'rings instead of head gaskets.

Ford made at least two different "HP289" C6FE cylinder head castings for race only. Some used a typical type head gasket and some used a special arrangement. In 1967 Ford published a part number and application guide for engines used in GT40s and Group II racers that shows a special head gasket for use with heads that had copper compression rings pressed into grooves cut into the cylinder heads for these engines.

Hey Craig, I might be interested buying the engine, I just need to know more about it. My phone is 281-360-9064 or e-mail me at
