What color should the bellhousing be in a 1966. Also, I read a post where they talked about the engine shim. What is that exactly?
Thanks... Gary

The engine to trans plate was on the back of the motor when the engine was painted. You'll see paint along the edges but a light coat around the starter area(to ensure proper ground).
Thanks Charles and Charlie for all the great information. I hope someday I can be as knowledgeable as you guys with the K.
Would the starter be natural color as well?
Gary
The starter will be all black with a general fading (not heavy paint) near the attaching end. Again... to ensure good ground.

Thanks very much. I think I am ready to pull the engine and clean up the engine and bay. With your help and the help of others I should be able to do a correct restore. I will take before and after pictures and post them so others hopefully may benefit from them.
