Heater core removal

  • On my final drive of the year, my 66 K Code heater core let go. Now that I cleaned up the mess I am trying to remove the cardboard glove box but can't seem to remove it without destroying it. Any suggestions on this process?

There are a couple of bends in the carbboard that allow it to collapse. They are on the sides of the box and fold inward if my memory serves me.

Yes .. you are correct. The best way to do this is to first remove the glove box door..then the hinge bracket. Disconnect and remove the

flasher switch assembly,if present. Then remove the screws that secure the cardboard box. Fold the sides of the box inward by compressing the box on both sides until it can be removed from the front. Now you have clear access to the heater box. Box is installed in reverse order.
