Radio Supressor Condenser

  • Does anyone know a source for these in the aftermarket? This is the condenser that plugs into the voltage regulator harness, ostensibly to supress radio static, although that point is debatable. It does appear to provide steady load to the gauge cluster ammeter as it now has become RPM dependent. I just replaced the voltage regulator the same time as the lead broke off the condenser (flush with the cylindrical housing, so no lead wire available to resolder the lead to unless I carve out a pocket below the black potting material where the lead exits the housing). Butterfingers! <img src=images/icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

I've been scouring all the usual parts sources and coming up empty. I'm told by one Mustang-only parts house that no one reproduces this part. I know I can substitute any capacitor of similar rating, but as this part has a very specific bracket attached to it, it will stand out as an incorrect part in an otherwise stock engine bay if mounted above the VR as is typical.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Deryl,

I have a spare. I can bring it down to Sac this weekend if you're going to be there. If not, I'll mail it to you. It will need some clean-up but it's original.
