I've had Edelbrocks on my 66 for several years now. They replaced Konis and I find their ride a good compromise between stock and ultra-stiff. Several others in our local club converted after riding in mine and all have the same response. Haven't talked to anyone yet who didn't like them. They stiffen up in hard cornering, but relax a bit when cruising, making railroad tracks much easier to tolerate. It's due tp their patented internal IAS (inertia-activated)valve - or so they want you to believe.

My favorite part of the show was when the guy with the Boss 429 tried to pull in the front gate where the K's were parked, getting to tell him that he'd have to go down to the 'show entrants gate' and get in line with everyone else. My bad! <img src=images/icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

I'm happy to report that as of today, there will be at least 17 "K" code cars attending. It's still not to late to enter. I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Finally got my lingering electrical problem (surfaced on my way to the Concord MCA show in June) resolved, so I'll definitely be there. Just hope the rain holds off. 17 K's would be amazing! <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

The registration form arrived in the mail this past weekend in the latest 'Restomod News', including a special category for Ks. The date is October 20th.

MP is now charging $25 for an entry, but that includes the usual lunch and the shirt. Pretty much in line with what you pay for most shows that don't provide food. Mailed mine this AM. See you all in October! <img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Does anyone know a source for these in the aftermarket? This is the condenser that plugs into the voltage regulator harness, ostensibly to supress radio static, although that point is debatable. It does appear to provide steady load to the gauge cluster ammeter as it now has become RPM dependent. I just replaced the voltage regulator the same time as the lead broke off the condenser (flush with the cylindrical housing, so no lead wire available to resolder the lead to unless I carve out a pocket below the black potting material where the lead exits the housing). Butterfingers! <img src=images/icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

I've been scouring all the usual parts sources and coming up empty. I'm told by one Mustang-only parts house that no one reproduces this part. I know I can substitute any capacitor of similar rating, but as this part has a very specific bracket attached to it, it will stand out as an incorrect part in an otherwise stock engine bay if mounted above the VR as is typical.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here's a quote taken directly from 'Ron's News Bulletin' page, dated July 2007, this AM on the Mustangs Plus site :

    "K" Day at Mustangs Plus!

Calling all "K" codes! You are to report to Mustangs Plus on Saturday, October 20th, 2007 for the Mustangs Plus October Display! That is all.

It has been suggested to us by many people that we should highlight a special group of Mustangs at our April and October displays and we think that's a great idea! So we have decided that we'll have "K" Day here at Mustangs Plus on Saturday, October 20, 2007. Every "K" code car will receive a special award and will be displayed in a very prominent area. We'll also have some special awards for the "K" code cars in addition to the awards that will be given out to all of the other Mustangs and Fords that come to the display. It'll be a show you won't want to miss!

We'll have all the entry information for the October Display including "K" Day in our September 2007 issue of Restomod Magazine and on the Mustangs Plus website, http://www.mustangsplus.com, soon! Be sure to get your entry in early!

Their site doesn't have a show date yet. Does anyone have news on when it will be?

I spoke to Ron about this specifically at the Wild West Nationals show. It now sounds like he wants to start doing a 'featured model' at his two annual Mustangs Plus shows and the K model will be the first one featured at this October's show. He wants to set aside an area for the featured group to park as a single display, with special awards for the featured group.

Look for details as he starts promoting the October show. If we could get 8 (we had 8 at Concord and Ron didn't show his yellow K coupe, and Laki, Bill and Robert weren't there, either), it would make a great K-show!

The turquoise one took silver in concourse driven. That one is also a brand new restoration, still getting debugged. That makes at least 3 awards - one gold and two silvers.

Deryl - we'll have to get together and compare details at some point; my car was two days behind yours in production.

    Dave,

You missed one in your count & photos. There was a Rangoon Red/black convert top/GT near the far side of the venue. It was a trailered concourse car that took a silver (I was on that one's judging team). That makes 8 - count 'em EIGHT!! - legit K's at one show. WOW!

    Sounds good!

BTW - There were 297 registered cars and 30 no-shows, plus two vendors who didn't show up.

I think yours was the one I was hoping to get engine bay pictures of. Isn't your car a January '65 San Jose car?

    <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>

Pretty darn close - December 28th, '64 San Jose/Milpitas car.

I'll be there, as will a couple others I know.

Unfortunately, MCA offers two options for parking cars - first come, first served or by class. This show is being done by the former, so unless we all arrive together, we'll be scattered around the venue. What WOULD be cool is to get all the Ks photographed together with one of the P51s that will be there just for this purpose.

BTW - I'm on the show committee, so this isn't rumor or speculation.

Edelbrocks without a doubt. Replaced Konis on my A-code FB with them about 4 years ago & they made a world of difference in ride quality & road handling (as opposed to track handling). I've got KYBs on the K convert & will convert them one of these days as well. Both cars have 620s up front, with urethane perches, spring isolators, billet rear shackles and urethane rear bushings and the KYBs are transmitting more road vibration to the cockpit, as measured by the "rear view mirror" test. Same tires (15 x7 BFG T/A's) on both as well. The K has 4-1/2 leaf rears and the FB still has 4-leaf (not much longer), so no major difference there, either.
