Getting Close to GT K Conv purchase/ Advice?

  • I came across two K Code convertible's over the last few months.

    One is a black/K Code/1 owner/4 speed

    The other is a Nightmist Blue/4 Speed/Tasca Ford/Matching number/GT-K Code Convertible

The black car is stronger. The blue car has minor rust in a few areas but not enough to change my mind.

Price-wise both cars are the same.

I'm thinking the blue car with the couple issues might be the better deal because of the GT...

    Where's the experts on this...?

    Any advice would be helpful..

    Or email me directly..

    Thank you!

    Happy New Year....

  • Firstly I am no expert.

But from your post I gather that if you buy the non GT you will always be hankering after the GT car.

So if you can make the issues right without too much time or money go with the GT car.

Of course be real sure what it is - Factory GT, confirmed by build sheet or buck tag, Dealer optioned GT, or homemade GT.

You would not want to pay top dollar for a car that was not right.

Now the real experts can put you right.

  • go with your gut feeling on this one. Personally, I'd rather have a blue over a black convertible (depending on the interior). Reverse the preference if it were a fastback. If the body work doesn't scare you, then let the option list be your guide. Aren't you the same Bret who specializes in the Shelbys? Use the same logic when buying a Shelby... Is this for your personal use or for investment/resale?

  • I'm going to keep it for awhile.

And yes I'm more of a Shelby guy but I'm getting into these K codes a little bit...

    The black has tan interior...

The dark blue has black...But it's a GT..

Both 4 speeds with original engines...but the black car is nicer..

I was told awhile back that black's are popular...

    Ugh...!

Another note...I came across a 67 K Code convertible about a month ago. But the guy's keeping it..

    Now that's rare!

    Thanks for your help guys....

    Bret
