The mirror package was optioned as the"VISABILITY GROUP" package which consists of the Deluxe remote mirror,the Day/Nite rearview mirror and 2 speed wipers.Also were rpo and dealer installed alone.My early 65 K has these all together.I have been restoring original styled steel wheels alot recently ,it appears the64-65 were argent,and66-67s were darker charcoal.I have an original65 wheel and it was argent.However I painted the rest of mine the charcoal,so I need to repaint them.

Hello fellow K nuts!LOL!I have been restoring various sets of original styled steel wheels,and recently just restored a nice 65 model.The Drake paint my favorite Mustang shop stocks is a very dark charcoal that looks terrible to me.The paint I used before was definately much lighter with a grayer pigment.Original and nos ones have a light gray pigment.I just picked up a super nice original that looks like it has been repainted (maybe at the dealer?)long ago they painted the back with the center cap on in a pretty much a Silver/Gray color.Has anyone else run in to this problem?Who sells a match to this color?The K code is heading to the paint shop so I'm keen to get the nicest wheels in the correct color.I have been waiting to get this car done for a very long time,almost20yrs!!THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL HELP!!!!!Ps My buddy is badgering me to convert it to a GT but it's a January car,non GT and besides the expense of conversion I am trying to do it original with the exception to some Cobra upgrades on the motor and an export brace.Should I stick with my guns?Thanks again so much and the best of luck to all my compadres!!!!Randy

Thanks again all!You are as always very helpful.I want to restore my Kar the best I can,but if I don't need the bent linkage it's fine cos these are much harder to find.I was also curious as to the type of shifter plate,I really can't see the area around the shifter to verify if it had 4 holes for the early plate or not.Thanks,Randy

Hello all!It's been awhile!I was wondering when Ford changed from the early bent style 4 sp linkage to the later style?Also I am assuming the early 4 screw mount shifter bezel was also changed at the same time?!My Kar is Jan 65 production.Thanks!Randy

Hello all!I just picked up an original 289 emblem&FORD Hipo badge,and they both need the center ribbed area touched up.What is the correct paint,semi gloss?Also are the ribbed areas on the 289 solid black or just painted inside the ribs?Ditto the hipo badges also?I am having a hard time getting a clear pic of this.THe Hipo badge on the one on the cover of the Hipo book looks like the 289 is solid black and the hipo badge has only the rib insides painted.Help!I want to get it right the first time and not botch them!!!!Thanks and have a "HIPO" day!Randy

Hi! I have just finished restoring my 65 styled steel wheels,and need some center caps!They look crappy without them to say the least!Prefer NOS or clean used,but a cheap set of repos wil hold me over until I can find what I want!Thanks&have a nice weekend Randy

Oh,by the way I meant that anyone had a choice to buy GT or not after April 65.I was not inferring that there were no NON-GTs before that.I happen to have one!

Hello all!I personally pulled a 66 NON_GT K code we bought from the original owner out of the weeds behind his barn,that he had sitting since the 70s!The 66 non -GT cars ARE very rare.But the option list shows that anyone could buy a NON GT K code after April 65.The non- Gts were a bit more expensive and most people opted for the GT package!Sure wish we had that Black 66 still!It was reportedly stolen in Fla years back!Too bad!

Hi,I was just wondering some of these questions myself after the last ride in the K!I was running CAM2 but at these prices I would go broke having a joy ride!I have been running SUNOCO94,with generic octane booster from Autozone,actually w no probs.My compression I believe is 10.6:1 running TRW forged pistons from the late 1980s.Anyone know anything about these by the way?I also went to Wal mart and picked up LEAD ADDITIVE in a neat variable amount container which can treat as little as 5 gallons,and will treat up to 160 gallons!This is much cheaper than buying a $3 container every tankfull!It's only $6 or so.I thought it was a cool deal!Anyone have any input?Thanks!Randy

Hi!I have what I believe to be the original air cleaner on my car.It is the correct CAl. emission type base w closed fitting,and the orig type 2 chrome lid.When I stripped it all the way down to bare metal there was no date code at all,and there was only black paint all the way down and it never appeared to be gold ever.I found this to be odd and assumed it might be a service replacement but I don't know if all bases had date codes.Any thoughts?!Thanks Randy

Hi All!I am installing a ROTUNDA lh remote mirror in the K beast.It appears to have had the VISABILITY group option.Unfortunately my drivers door was changed(BOO HOO!NO TAG!!)I need to drill a hole for the cable under the mirror,and also install the remote handle in the door panel.Does any one know where I can get templates or measurements for installing these??!!I just don't have a clue where to look.Thanks again,RANDY p.s If my memory serves me the cable hole is actually punched w/ a bevel on the edge?

Hello fellow K nuts!I am wondering about the date codes used on tags such as the steering box.Would a tag of=5 L 18B be FEB 18 1965?i NEED A HCC AX box prior to @16 Jan 1965,but do you think I should settle for the closest I can come up with!?I am getting ready to do my front suspension and need a box,somebody has put an HCC AT box in it!?Thanks again,Randy
