According to the repo. door data tag
the Kar had scheduled build date of mid. June 65, were they installing 66 housings with the 65 style then, if so that would explain the oil deflector, but the third member that I posted had a casting date of 5b2 so it’s probably not original to the Kar, I’m confused on this one.
The rear diff you have pictured could be an equal lock which was a light duty locking rear diff .

Yes Fred you hit the nail on the head, as any open rear gear i have opened up did not have pone , i wonder if they are still available , tit would need to be in position before the 3/8 studs were installed.
Based on the picture in the Ford MPC, that piece is held into the housing by two of the studs as they are installed. The piece is no longer available and there are none at any of my parts locaters.
-Fred-
Thanks for that info Fred, i will be looking for one at ford Carlisle this year , im thinking a later year say 67-73 9 inch oil deflector would fit the bill as the housing stud pattern is the same as a 65 ,

Im thinking sub assys like complete rear end were assembled at a sub plant and shipped to one of the three mustang assy plants to be installed in the vehicle chassis much like rear leaf springs and complete engine assys.

0626211428a.jpg0626211428a.jpgThis is my housing when i was cleaning it up its a 65 mid April Dearborn fastback housing, with the similar 6 or 9 marking, no oil deflector present .

The number 9 or could also be a 6 is most likely an inspector mark, the other part i think is an oil deflector , Fred might have more detailed info on this, is this a 65 or 66 housing.

Good catch Fred . the dished pistons are a dead giveaway, FYI he has a history of this sort of thing , I am amused with his vending at Ford Carlisle .

was there a magnet inside the rear end housings in 65-66 k codes from the factory
-
Did all year production K code engines have R & L motor mount heat shields installed when new. were they same as a non K code 289 shield.

Right on Dan Case!
4100 flow rates posted are pretty close to what we saw at JBA back in the day.
OP needs this monster 1.23 prototype for his 347
What is a 1.23 prototype , first i have seen one.

I would contact saac on this one.

Chuck, I am happy for you that you had a good time out there and especially meeting up with some other knowledgeable people. The last time that I met up with Bob Perkins was at a race meet where Shelby was the celebrated marque in Palm Springs at least 25 years ago. I have only spoken to but have yet to meet Hank.
-Fred-
Fred, the member that stopped at my spot wasn't hank Doby from Texas but from Lancaster PA i dont recall his name , he told me his handle and i thought he said racol , my mistake, anyway he said he has spoken to you about many points about our cars all with praise.

Thanks Fred , the HEH S trans sold there, i decided not to take the HEH T trans but to go through it and put it back to a close ratio , The swap meet was packed i could hardly keep up to the customers . its been so long since the public has been able to attend any large auto meets . lots of smiles (bob Perkins was even there how about that) met a few members from the site there Racol and his wife from PA were hanging out for a while. saw very few K code stuff i looked at a K crank that was still standard on the mains & rods and had a nice ring to it when taped but with some rust on the journals , it did not sell at the meet. it was good to be back out there again,

I just tried sending a test message two ways through the site, one as a "Comment" under your profile page and one as a linked email.
Hi Dan, i think there is a large error in your profile printed under the picture of your cobra ,it says ( student) there is no way you are a student in regards to what is talked about and information about any area here on the site , you and Fred are the most knowledgeable guys around, thanks for sharing , regards, chuck.
