I had to reduce the size of the pics a bit to work on this forum better, so here goes:

Any pics, especially of the part number castings, please?

Cool car - yes, it doesn't surprise me that it got overlooked at a show like that. Most don't realize the significance of a K Mustang even when staring at one at an all Ford or even an all Mustang show.

Wow, what a stunning Kar. She is beautiful and nicely equipped!

Thanks - that link with the pictures was helpful. So after sanding, you must have to carefully mask off the SS ring inside and out before painting, but the clear still goes over it to seal in the gap and such.

Somewhere along the lines of ownership, doors were replaced due to accident damage, rust, whatever.....way back then, I think few people bothered to care about saving the door tag. My neighbor just told me of a car that's been in his family since new. They had to get a new door back in the 80s and didn't even consider keeping/saving the door tag. Too bad, b/c it's a very nicely equipped car!
But you are right. Without the original tag, owners can build to their current tastes. Heck, even MCA rules seem to encourage this (unless they have changed them in the past few years).

Above is a picture of my actual wheel, which is the same wheel in the Shelbys like Z has. As you can see, the woodgrain portions are seperated by a metal band visible on the inside and outside of the wheel with some spacing in between. If I'm reading your description correctly, this area and "space" will be completely covered and recreated with painting techniques?

Was looking at a K fastback offered for sale last year. Owner never admitted to much about the car until directly asked about very specific information. When I couldn't find the reinforcements in either frame rail, he finally told me that they both had to be replaced due to extensive rust damage. It was also then admitted to be a "converted" GT. Made the whole car seem fishy to me, and he then wondered why other people seemed so interested in the frame rail hole photos and such.
I can understand why one would want to put these factory features back into a replacement part on a genuine car, but it sure opens the door back up to more fake GTs and K code rebodies. Just sayin...

Hi Doug,
I like the idea of making the steering wheel a bit thicker. My pony steering wheel has only a small crack/missing piece about 1/8" thick at the most. I haven't yet considered restoring it (it's already been done once), but what does something like this typically cost? I live in MN, and the car sits in COLD COLD storage each year, exposing it to lots of temp changes between summer/winter - not sure if going with a real wood steering wheel would be best?

Other than another fine stang leaving our country, that's a pretty good ending for you! You get to see the Kar completed and somebody else is going to finance it. Congratulations.

Bill, I sent you a Private Message.

Welcome to the site - Thanks for coming in! My green convertible pictured in my sig was built in Dearborn - yea!

Did ALL full length consoles (no AIR) have these lights? I don't recall having one on mine, but it's in storage right now so I can't check for sure.
-
I replied, but now it's gone....?
Generally, I agree with what has been said on this one. You really can't offer less than what you got unless the car has been used hard and shows wear beyond light use/proper storage.

I purchased this one 2 years ago on recommendation for my Shelby clone.
Edelbrock 7121 - Edelbrock Performer RPM Manifold
I never installed it, but took it out of the box to inspect for cracks/damage. Decided to leave the small letter COBRA manifold in place for a little extra vintage coolness despite performance loss.
I still have it in the box. If you are interested in making me an offer, I may sell it.

Are these the closed letter style with black wrinkle finish? If so, how much would you take on trade for a pair of original ones in need of cosmetic restoration (no pitting or breakage - just needs a refresh)?
