This 65 Mustang Koupe Poppy Red with black standard interior is for sale by Ebay seller "rdg5419" as a reserve price auction with a starting bid of $7,500.00:
The Good:
1965 Mustang HI-PO K Code 289, 271 HP Original Factory Matching Numbers!
All 65 Mustangs on the road are head turners, but this one stands out. Wherever I go—a gas station, a classic car meet—it draws a crowd. People consistently tell me how nice the car is and how great it looks (see photos). Then they want to hear all about it.
**Restoration & Mileage:**
8-year-old restoration with less than 2,000 miles since completion. The car has carried Antique tags for the full 8 years (Texas limits annual mileage with these tags to 100 miles).
**Maintenance & Recent Work:**
- Oil changed every 6 months; last change was last week
- Rebuilt 4100 Autolite carburetor (set at neutral; may need adjustment for your area)
- Fresh battery, starter, alternator, and fuel pump (originals were 8 years old—I wanted everything current)
**Condition & Verification:**
The car runs and drives great. If you'd like a driving video, contact me and I'll send one.
The Mustang is a numbers-matching car based on casting and assembly dates. I have photos of the engine. The factory 4-speed Top loader transmission & The rear end casting & Build Date numbers would require removal to verify, but I was assured by A & E Classics, LLC that all dates matched when I purchased the car.
Ford factory Rally Pack included: Clock (non-functional), AM Radio (non-functional), and Owner's manual (unfilled).

The battery is not a Ford AutoLite battery. What is shown is a plastic cover which goes over whatever brand battery to make it appear to be a AutoLite Battery
The Bad:
The restoration is sound and presents very well. With under 2,000 miles since completion and eight years of storage and light use, the car shows some cosmetic aging in the following areas:
PAINT: The paint is starting to show its age. It has some small paint chips that for the most part don't jump out at you, however you will notice them when hand washing the car. There are three areas where the paint has started to bubble. Again, they are not immediately obvious, but you will notice them during close inspection or when washing.
CHROME: The chrome is starting to show its age. It has light scratches on the rear bumper that show when sunlight hits it. The rear bumper guards (above exhaust pipes) show pitting and some rust spots.
WHEELS: The mag wheel centers appear fine, however the outer portion of the rim has some rust. The painted part of the rim is staring to break down and there is some flaking in some areas (no two wheels have the same issue in the same place).
VALVE COVERS: The valve covers show light to moderate scratches at the front.
ENGINE: The engine has an intermittent oil leak in the oil pan area. I have not identified the specific source and have never needed to add oil between oil changes.

Photos are a major part of the description please review them. If you want additional photos of the areas described here, just contact me and I will send them to you.
As stated, the car presents very well overall. I have done my best to describe both the good and the bad based on my personal experience owning and driving this car for the past eight years.
**The car is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied.** I strongly recommend having a trusted mechanic or inspector evaluate the car before purchase. This is always a prudent approach when buying any used vehicle.
