build time in 1964

    I am curious as to how long the process of building a Dearborn fastback in the fall of 1964 might have taken. My Kar has a date of October 1 on it's data plate, with dates on various panels from August 26 to October 12. I'm thinking at least 3 weeks from the data tag date, as the date of October 1 was when the order for the Kar was received at the assembly line.

    The "DATE" field on your warranty plate is simply a "Scheduled" or "Projected" date that the car would be made. Could be off by days or weeks before or after that date.


    You will always find a discrepancy in date codes throughout the car as different pieces came from different sources. It is not uncommon to find sheet metal with stampings a month or so before the car was actually assembled.
