JJust picked up a 1965 Raven Black Fastback from an estate sale. I was originally hunting for a 406 Galaxie, but the seller mentioned his dad had an old fastback, and it turned out to be an absolute peach of a car that I grabbed in a package deal.
She’s an original DSO 71 California car, which explains why the sheet metal is so clean. She features some great period Shelby mods (Cobra intake, oil pan, and valve covers), along with correct K-code engine parts and the proper AX steering box. As you'd expect for a car built to be driven, the normal 'gone years ago' factory parts like the button-top fuel pump and the original Autolite are long gone. Instead, she’s currently running a 600 double pumper assembled by the legend Drew over at Air Fuel Spark, absolutely the man for Ford Holleys.
I haven’t been able to locate a VIN stamp on the block, so I’m treating it as a service replacement block. Just to set expectations, she’s a phenomenal, well-sorted driver rather than a pristine concours showpiece, so I’m not looking to get too deep into the weeds with VIN matching or factory date codes.
What makes this car incredibly unique—and likely a 1-of-1,is that she is a June '65 build equipped with the AM/FM slidebar radio, right when Ford first started offering them.
I am pricing her at a very fair $80,000 for an incredibly desirable, well-sorted fastback. I'm looking for a smooth, straightforward transaction with a serious buyer, so let's keep the discussion productive and skip the usual envy-driven online commentary.
If you're looking for a clean, incredibly rare fastback with a great story, let me know if you’d like to talk details or see some photos.
