HiPo Carb Question, what are these?

  • What are these, what purpose do they serve and were they only found in HiPo Carbs? I think I know the answers but I'm not 100% sure. Thanks!

  • Those brass pieces are there to help slow down fuel slosh between the primary and secondary float bowls. This slosh occurs mostly on acceleration and braking. They are two pieces soldered together and are very fragile. I have observed many of these 4100 carburetors missing one or both of them. All 4100 cerburetors have these pieces and they are NOT specific to Hipo carburetors..

  • Plus. They also slow down fuel movement between ends of carburetors when vehicles are driven up or down very steep inclines.

If fuel levels are high in one or both bowls, it is possible to over flow a fuel bowl on the low end when just one end or a car is raised with a jack. The baffles slow down movement of fuel between bowls but do not stop it in such situations,
