I’m selling my 1965 Mustang Fastback K Code GT350 R MODEL Tribute Car that took many years to complete. This car was purchased from the original owner as a GT350R tribute project. The previous owner, who is a mustang fanatic himself, started collecting many authentic GT350 Shelby / R model parts throughout the years. These rare parts in combination with the attention to detail, is something you won’t find in many of these other tribute builds. This original rust free K code Mustang was brought right down to the shell on a rotisserie and covered in red oxide primer. It was even seam sealed to replicate the application method in 1965. I eventually took over the build, all the rare parts, and combined forces with a high end restoration shop. Here it was painted and topped off with 6 coats of clear! The undercarriage, wheel wells and aprons were correctly oversprayed for the correct look. We went as far to use the Shelby - koni bolts for the shock towers holding down the Koni Shocks. Details include the cowl reinforcement brace, Corvair battery tray, heater delete, dash pad delete, so on and so forth. At this point if you understand what I’m describing, you’ll understand what you’re looking at. On the exterior, I did add chrome around the windows and windshield wipers to “finish it off.” The interior: I went on the nice side of race, such as adding a headliner, glove box and interior lights. These few things made it a bit more aesthetically pleasing to the average eye. Additionally I coated the floor and interior panels in raptor liner, giving everything a nice finish. The floor mats even were altered to get a rubber backing so not to slide on the coated floor. Inside of the doors, roof and undercarriage tunnel were coated for heat and sound. Vintage 4 point seat harnesses with 1965 labels attached. Vintage NOS fire extinguisher. Real wood Shelby steering wheel. Authentic Shelby fiberglass racing seats, Correct horn switch on dash, Roll bar, Shelby override traction bars, It goes on and on. The color is original adding the guardsman blue stripes. Lexan side windows and plexiglass rear window. Working oil cooler. Shelby exhaust with welded seams for a clean, no clamp look. Stainless steel brake lines. Upgraded 3/8 Fuel line. Real racing tires on correct style wheels and race lug nuts. Rear end is the original 4.11 geared 9”rear w a Detroit locker and correct axle snubber. Upgraded to 31 spine axles. Oversized brakes as Shelby prescribed. Everything rollerized (clutch / brake pedal, upper / lower control arms, spring perches / quick steer roller steering). Suspension has the correct 1” drop, all fenders are rolled. The list can go on for days and I’m sure I’m missing a ton. Car does have undocumented race history and retains its original NJ inspection decal in the windshield. Unfortunately the original hipo motor and 4 spd transmission were sold off in the 80s for a bigger motor to race it at the Pocono Speedway.Currently the car is powered by a 347 stroker motor (302 bored and stroked) and backed by a T-5 world class 5 spd trans with a short throw shifter, both out of a 1986 Mustang, all rebuilt from the ground up. Estimated HP is 375-400, never dyno’d. Everything is dressed correctly for the GT350R including valve covers, oil pan and plenum. Hipo pulley, balancer, belts, correct hose clamps. Autolite alternator, hipo wires. Cobra race oil pan (7.5 qt). Race everything: thermostat, clutch, clutch throw out bearing. Screens were custom made to protect radiator, brake cooling intakes and air plenum. Holley 600cfm carb restored to concourse. Cobra high rise intake. Paint is a 9.5 out of 10. Bottom is a 9.5 out of 10. All brake coolers are real working. Side scoops installed as they could’ve been as an upgrade racing in the later 60s. Fuel tank is even hand made from two Mustang bottom portion of the fuel tanks w baffles soldered in to make a fuel cell, just as it would be done back in the day. Battery correctly moved to the rear on correct tray, with all the correct shut offs, vents and drains. Since the 600 miles on the restoration. Clean and clear NJ title shows 43,000 Actual miles, which is correct when taken off the road in 1982. New instrument cluster reads 620 miles. It has not been beat on or raced since restoration. Not even a burn out. It does not leak one drop of oil. Hundreds of pics and books of documents / receipts. All exterior decals are removable if you don’t like the look. Lastly, this car was built never to be sold, but unfortunately things happen and now it’s for sale. This is my pride and joy so don’t insult me. I will choose my buyer.
