This fuel pump is for the 1968 Hipo 289 that Ford planned and produced the parts for in 1968. This was listed in the early 1968 Ford MPC that would have been issued in September 1967. Ford produced 1968 specific heads, intake manifold, harmonic balancer, carburetors for both manual and automatic transmissions and this fuel pump. All of the other parts became service parts for earlier Hipo 289 engines except this fuel pump. 1968 was the changeover year for Ford fuel systems to change from 5/16" to 3/8" fuel lines. Being as this fuel pump has a 3/8" inlet nipple rather than 5/16", this pump was not considered as a replacement. I have one of these and I know of another person with one and I recently spoke with another person who has two of these. Now the buyer of this one is the latest new owner of a "ghost" fuel pump that was never used.
