64 1/2 Mustang Koupe Skylight Blue with blue standard interior is for sale on Bring A Trailer as a reserve price auction:
This 1964.5 Ford Mustang is a K-code coupe that was delivered new in Skylight Blue over blue with a HiPo 289ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a 9″ rear axle. Equipment includes 14″ wheels, drum brakes, manual steering, a generator, Rally Pac gauges, a console, a push-button AM radio, and a reverb unit for the rear speaker. The current owner acquired the car out of Kentucky in 2016, after which the body was refinished, the carburetor was rebuilt, the oil was changed, and the fuel pump, carpeting, and heater core were replaced. This Mustang is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with manufacturer’s literature and a clean Nevada title.
The car was delivered new in Skylight Blue (Y) and was refinished under current ownership. Features include Ford lettering across the hood, chrome-finished bumpers, rocker trim, and untrimmed quarter-panel coves.
lack 14″ steel wheels wear covers and are mounted with Goodyear whitewall tires. The steering and drum brakes are unassisted.
The car left the factory with the interior trimmed in Blue vinyl (82) and front bucket seats. Features include blue carpeting with rubber liners, a center console, and a Ford-branded AM radio. Work in 2020 included replacing the heater core, and in 2021 the seatbelts were reconditioned and the carpeting was replaced.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation that includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer flanked by gauges to monitor fuel level and coolant temperature. A Rally Pac with an 8k-rpm tachometer and a clock is mounted to the column. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
A reverb-effect box for the rear shelf speaker is located in the trunk and pictured above.
The K-code 289ci V8 was rated at 271 horsepower and 312 lb-ft of torque when introduced for the Mustang in June 1964. The seller notes that the driver-side front apron and the radiator support have been replaced, and there is evidence that the engine was painted blue at some point before being returned to a black finish. Work since 2019 has included rebuilding and reconditioning the radiator, changing the oil, and replacing the radiator, battery, fuel-sending unit, and mechanical fuel pump. The car is also equipped with a generator.
The engine stamping is shown above. Photos of other stampings, tags, and stickers are provided in the gallery below.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 9″ rear axle with an open differential.
The vehicle warranty number reveals that the car is an early model built at the Dearborn, Michigan plant and powered by a HiPo 289ci V8 with a four-barrel carburetor. The data plate shown above decodes as follows:
