    <b>DESCRIPTION</b>

This 1967 Ford Mustang GT Fastback is truly one of the RAREST Mustangs produced. This is a Factory "K" Code 289 High Performance ( also known as HiPo and Special). It is equipped with the 271HP 4V solid lifter engine, 4 speed toploader transmission, and 3.50 9 inch rear end. According to the Marti report, this is one of 205 1967 Mustangs with the K code engine and 4 speed toploader transmission. The 205 total production includes all body types including Fastback, Coupes and Convertibles.

This Mustang is equipped with the GT Package, Power Disc front brakes, 4 speed toploader transmission, and AM radio. It is Springtime Yellow with black standard interior and has the very desirable factory in-dash 8000 RPM tachometer with 120 MPH speedometer and the trip odometer. The non-HiPo Mustangs came with a 6000 RPM tachometer, but the HiPo's used the 8000 RPM version.

It has the GT Fog Light grill assembly and Pony Styled steel wheels with twin redline BF Goodrich Silvertown 660 tires, which are period correct. The car has undergone an extensive ground up restoration. Every nut and bolt was removed, and the body was put on a rotisserie and fully stripped down to the original metal. The underneath was sandblasted, and all rust was removed. New floorpans were installed. The entire bottom was painted with Red Oxide primer. New fuel lines from gas tank to engine, new fuel tank, and all new brake lines front to rear were installed.

The original rear housing was fully dissassembled and the 9 inch center section was fully rebuilt and detailed. New rear leaf springs, new axle bearings, and all new brake hardware was installed. The front Power Disc Brakes have the correct 4 piston calipers that were rebuilt with stainless sleeves, and NOS front disc brake rotors were installed. The power brake booster and master cylinder were rebuilt. It has new upper and lower control arms with new ball joints, new inner and outer tie rods ends, and new front strut bushings. The steering box was rebuilt.

The engine was fully rebuilt, and the shortblock balancing work, line boring, cylinder boring, and new cam bearing installation was performed by Philadelphia Racing Engines. The block, although not the original one from the car, has the heavy duty HiPo style main caps. It has new hypereutectic .030 pistons, and the correct style HiPo connecting rods and crankshaft. The HiPo cylinder heads are Ford service heads and have been fully rebuilt. It has a new mechanical lifter camshaft, new lifters, and a new timing chain and gear. It has the correct intake manifold, correct numbered Autolite 4V carburetor with manual choke, correct HiPo mechanical advance dual point distributor, and original HiPo harmonic balancer. It is topped off with new correct style chrome vlave covers and air cleaner.

This has original Ford Hipo exhaust manifolds, an NOS Ford HiPo exhaust H-pipe, and new dual exhaust system with the correct style rolled edge twin exhaust tips. The original 4 speed toploader transmission was fully rebuilt, as was the original Ford 4 speed shifter. A new clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing and all new clutch linkage was installed.

The bottom side of the car looks like it came off the showroom floor. The black standard interior was entirely refurbished with new carpets and underlayment, headliner, dashpad, seat covers, door panels, armrests and dash bezels. The exterior Springtime Yellow paint is beautifully offset with the lower Black GT stripes and all new exterior chrome. This stunning Mustang is truly one that appeals to the eye and will appreciate in value.

  • If he has a Marti report, wouldn't that notable stat be included? <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>On Jan-20-07 at 07:38:42 PST, seller added the following information:

  • I just double-checked the actual registry database, not the book. 11 Aug 67 (a fastback, 7F02K232xxx) is the latest scheduled build date in the registry. There is only one car (a coupe, 7F01K233xxx) with a higher production number but we don't have its date.

The latest scheduled build date for a NJ car in the registry is 1 Jun 67 (7T02K260xxx) so this car could be the last NJ car built when added to the registry. Remember, this is just what's in the registry and the dates are scheduled build dates, not actual build dates. Marti would have the records to prove which is the last car built.

  • Brinks car is a coupe, the seller states fastback. I doubt if it is the last k fastback but considering the rarity of 67 k codes it probably is close. It wouldn't surprise me if Brinks '67 coupe was the last k coupe made though. Might even be the last k...
